Participants will learn how to recognize MARSI, apply evidence-based standards of care, and implement skin-friendly practices that protect patients and promote healing.
- Recognize the signs, risk factors, and common presentations of Medical Adhesive-Related Skin Injury (MARSI).
- Apply evidence-based standards of care to prevent MARSI in home infusion therapy.

This session presents a detailed case study of a home infusion patient who experienced Medical Adhesive-Related Skin Injury (MARSI), uncovering the clinical decisions, environmental factors, and care practices that contributed to the outcome. Participants will walk through a root cause analysis and learn actionable strategies to prevent MARSI and promote skin integrity in future care scenarios.

Julie Deane, RN, BSN, MAEd, CRNI is a Clinical Education Specialist at Fairview Home Infusion (MN). With 31 years of nursing experience and 18 years of nursing education, Julie supports the nurses and leaders at FHI with onboarding new nurses, developing and updating material, creating opportunities for continuing education like Skills Fairs and speakers at our monthly Field Nurse Meetings. She is a person who pays attention to details and enjoys doing research and writing.
