This session empowers nurses to recognize and fulfill their legal and ethical responsibilities in mandated reporting, with clarity and confidence. Participants will explore the who, what, when, how, and why of reporting to safeguard vulnerable populations and uphold professional standards.
- Describe the nurse's legal and ethical responsibilities as a mandated reporter in home infusion practice, including types of reportable situations and required timelines.
- Explain proper reporting procedures - including documentation, communication with care teams, and escalation pathways - to promote patient safety and meet regulatory requirements in their clinical practice.
Nurse Bytes: Wheels in Motion, Safety in Mind: A Nurse's Guide to Road Readiness
This session prepares home infusion nurses to navigate the road with confidence, focusing on essential safety practices before, during, and after travel. Participants will explore strategies for situational awareness, vehicle preparedness, and personal protection to ensure safe care delivery on the move.
- List safety precautions and risk-reduction measures to implement before, during, and after travel to patients' homes.
- Describe situational awareness and preparedness strategies (e.g., route planning, environmental scanning, and de-escalation techniques) to protect personal safety and uphold professional standards during home visits.

Judith Maggi, MSN, RN is a passionate nursing education leader with over 30 years of experience leading, designing and implementing innovative training programs across varied healthcare settings. As National Manager of Nursing Education at Coram/CVS Specialty, she developed virtual onboarding, preceptorship and leadership programs that reduced staff turnover and enhanced engagement of staff. She brings expertise in instructional design, project management, and clinical leadership, with certifications in project management and adult learning facilitation. Judith has presented multiple times at NHIA and INS national conferences, most recently delivering sessions on virtual training and nurse precepting. She currently serves on the NHIA Nursing Education Committee, contributing to the strategic direction of national educational content. Driven by a deep commitment to clinical excellence and the empowerment of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Judy combines strategic vision with hands-on expertise to lead workforce development in home infusion.
